Hollister Fire Cause Determination
Hollister Fire Cause Determination Santa Barbara County Fire Department Investigators determined the Hollister Fire which started on Thursday, May 7th 2020, at 0213, was caused by Southern California Edison electrical conductors (power lines). A Southern California Edison utility pole located near GPS coordinates N34.470792, W-120.243027 failed and fell to the ground. The utility pole fell in a southerly direction in alignment with approximate 30 mile per hour north winds (sundowners). An energized conductor, connected to the utility pole, arced to the ground and ignited surrounding vegetation causing the Hollister Fire.
