Public Assistance Sought in Solvang Arson Investigation
Solvang, Calif. — April 20, 2026 — The Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying individuals responsible for a fire deliberately set at the former Sear Steakhouse, a commercial building located at 478 Fourth Street in Solvang, on December 5, 2024.
Following a thorough investigation, fire investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set by a group of three unidentified juveniles or young adults who are believed to be local to the Santa Ynez Valley.
The individuals were seen leaving the building approximately 15 minutes before the fire was first observed. They returned to a parking lot across the street where they were observed on security cameras watching the fire. A surveillance video of the individuals walking away from the fire and a photo of them watching the fire are included with this release.
Anyone who recognizes the individuals pictured or has other information is urged to contact investigators.

Solvnag, Calif. – La Unidad de Investigación de Incendios del Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Santa Bárbara está solicitando la asistencia del público para identificar a las personas responsables de un incendio deliberadamente provocado en el antiguo Sear Steakhouse, un edificio comercial ubicado en 478 Fourth Street en Solvang, el 5 de diciembre de 2024.
Después de una investigación exhaustiva, los investigadores de incendios determinaron que el incendio fue iniciado intencionalmente por un grupo de tres jóvenes no identificados que se cree que son locales del Valle de Santa Ynez.
Los individuos fueron vistos saliendo del edificio aproximadamente 15 minutos antes de que se observara por primera vez el incendio. Regresaron a un estacionamiento al otro lado de la calle donde fueron observados en cámaras de seguridad viendo el incendio. Un video de vigilancia de las personas caminando lejos del incendio y una foto de ellos viendo el incendio se incluyen con este comunicado.
Se insta a cualquier persona que reconozca a las personas en la foto o tenga otra información a contactar con los investigadores.
