RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT SATURDAY FOR EXTREME HEAT AND DRY CONDITIONS WITH GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS OVER SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS
Santa Barbara County – A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Los Angeles, effective from 12 PM Thursday afternoon through 10 PM Saturday, September 7th, 2024. This warning comes as a result of anticipated extreme heat, dry conditions, and gusty Sundowner winds that are expected to affect the foothills and mountains of southern Santa Barbara County. Sundowner wind events are anticipated tonight, and on Friday night. These Sundowners may impact the entire south coast, not just the more sparsely populated western areas.
A Red Flag Warning signals that critical fire weather conditions are either imminent or occurring. The combination of strong winds, low humidity, and high temperatures creates an environment where extreme fire behavior is possible. If a fire ignites, rapid spread and intense fire behavior are likely, posing serious risks to life and property.
Precautions for Citizens: In light of the Red Flag Warning, residents are urged to take the following precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their properties:

- Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling If using a cell phone, be sure to know and report your exact location.
- Avoind operating spark-producing equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and vehicles in dry grass or brush areas.

EL SERVICIO METEOROLÓGICO NACIONAL DE LOS ÁNGELES EMITIÓ UN ADVERTENCIA DE BANDERA ROJA HASTA LAS 10 P.M. PDT DEL SÁBADO POR CALOR EXTREMO Y CONDICIONES SECAS CON RÁFAGAS DE VIENTO AL ATARDECER SOBRE LAS ESTRIBACIONES Y MONTAÑAS DEL SUR DEL CONDADO DE SANTA BÁRBARA.
Santa Barbara County – El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional ha emitido una Advertencia de Bandera Roja, efectiva desde las 12 PM de esta tarde hasta las 10 PM del sábado 7 de septiembre de 2024. Esta advertencia viene como resultado del calor extremo previsto, las condiciones secas y ráfagas de viento al atardecer que se espera que afecten las estribaciones y montañas del sur del Condado de Santa Bárbara. Se anticipan eventos de viento al atardecer esta noche y el viernes por la noche. Estos sondas pueden afectar a toda la costa sur, no solo a las áreas occidentales más escasamente pobladas.
Una Advertencia de Bandera Roja indica que las condiciones climáticas críticas de incendios son inminentes o están ocurriendo. La combinación de fuertes vientos, baja humedad y altas temperaturas crea un ambiente donde es posible un comportamiento extremo del fuego.
