Staffing

Station 30 is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) station staffed by one Captain, one Engineer, one Firefighter/Paramedic, and one Firefighter.

History

Solvang translates into “Sunny Fields” and in this quaint Danish city in the heart of Santa Ynez Valley’s wine country, you will indeed find plenty of sunshine. Solvang is a very popular tourist destination, and the traditional Danish architecture is abundant, even Station 30, which is a part of the City Hall, looks like a European fire house. Many visitors stop to take photos of the station and the firefighters working here. Engine 30 and the crew are always met with cheers as they take part in the 4th of July, Danish Days, and Christmas parades.

With three stations serving the Santa Ynez Valley (30, 31, 32) the central location of 30s makes it an ideal location for training. The crew of 30s are busy on their own, but they are also always guaranteed to be second-in for any major incidents within the City of Buellton or the rest of the Santa Ynez Valley. In the summer, the temperatures often near 100 degrees, and the threat of vegetation fires always looms large throughout the Valley.

Station 30 began service in May of 2007 when the City of Solvang turned over their Volunteer Department to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The City of Solvang Fire Department had a great tradition since 1931 of serving its community well. We would like to thank all the staff and especially all the volunteer firefighters and other members of the community who have supported Solvang Fire over the years.
