Public Safety Education
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department provides educational resources on a variety of topics to help the public better understand personal and community safety. This section offers information designed to help individuals and your family become more safety-conscious and better prepared for an emergency.
Southern California is susceptible to several hazards, including wildfires, earthquakes, and flooding. Understanding how to prepare before an emergency occurs can help protect lives and property.

Requests for school visits or firefighter appearances are coordinated through the Santa Barbara County Fire Department Public Information Officer Unit.
To submit a request, please email Public Information Officer Michael Gray at [email protected] and Public Education Officer Karen Curz-Orduña at [email protected].
Please include the following information in your email:
- Description of the event or school visit
- Requested participation from firefighters
- Event or visit date
- Event or visit time
